Big Brother / Big Sister Mentoring Support Service
One-on-one mentoring for young people in need. We empower youth facing trauma, isolation or risk to build brighter futures through genuine connection, life skills and trusted support.
Because Every Young Person Deserves Someone in Their Corner
At Ready 2 Change, we believe one strong connection can change the direction of a life. Our Big Brother / Big Sister Mentoring Support Service is a one-on-one, intensive mentoring program created for young people who are doing it tough. Whether it’s at home, in school, in the community or within themselves.
These are the youth who often go unnoticed and the ones struggling with:
- Mental health challenges
- Low self-worth and identity issues
- Physical or emotional abuse
- Anger, violence, or addiction
- Neglect or family dysfunction
- Peer pressure or social isolation
- Lack of guidance, motivation, or safe adult role models
This service offers more than just a listening ear, it offers hope, direction, and genuine human connection.

What We Do
- Emotions and conflict
- Friendships and social environments
- School or workplace engagement
- Family relationships
- Decision-making and future planning
Each mentoring relationship is built on trust, respect, and consistency, the building blocks many of these young people have never experienced before.
Our Mentors – Real People with Real Stories

But what sets our mentors apart is their lived experience.
Many of them have walked through the same storms our young people are facing, from street violence and addiction to depression and family trauma. They don’t just understand the struggle they’ve overcome.
Through their stories, their empathy, and their firm commitment, our mentors become more than role models; they become the big brother or sister figure these youth never had.

Support That’s Real, Practical and Sustainable
Mentors organise fun, safe, and meaningful activities based on the young person’s interests building trust and connection in everyday moments. Over time, these relationships become a source of strength, motivation, and belief.
Whether it’s getting out into the community, debriefing after a tough day, or helping with school or job preparation, our mentors are right there, walking beside them through their journey.

From Street Struggles to Youth Mentor. This is Chris’ Journey.
“I want to help kids like me”
Once headed for the same jail cell as his brother, teenage Chris was caught in fights, gangs and school suspensions. Then Ready 2 Change stepped in with one-to-one mentoring, leadership training and team sport.
Today he has finished Year 12, studying Youth Work at TAFE and coaching the next generation as a Big Brother Mentor. Chris didn’t just change his own life – he’s changing dozens more.
